Messengers of Peace is a global initiative, launched by the World Organisation of the Scouting Movement (WOSM), based on the WOSM slogan of Creating a Better World. Envisioned in 2010 by His Majesty King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, its aim is to create a better world globally by acting locally. Through the Messengers of Peace Online Platform, it aims to connect people from every National Scouting Organisation (NSO) through the sharing of peace projects.
Anyone can be a Messengers of Peace - Scouts, Guides, and anyone who wants to get involved. This compliments the regular Award Scheme, and is something that can be done by Joey, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, Leaders, Guides, your Aunt, a Princess - and everyone will have a #heapsgood time!
Yes! The special Messengers of Peace badge is a 'ring-style' badge, that goes around the purple World Scouting badge, next to the Australian Flag badge on the uniform. These badges are available to purchase from the WA Scout Store.
There are also Messengers of Peace scarves, woggles, shirts, and more that you can buy through the Official World Scout Shop - click here for more details.
Venturers, Rovers, Guides, and anyone aged 15-25 who is looking for an additional challenge after Messengers of Peace should look at the Scouts of the World Award. Members of the International Team have currently completed this award, and are able to mentor and support anyone who is interested to achieve this high-level challenge.
